Your health, safety and comfort are our priority. If you have a back condition or another medical condition that affects your ability to carry a rucksack, please let us know in advance so that we can discuss how we can support you.

With a signed doctor’s note confirming that you require a lighter load, you will still need to pack your full rucksack, as the rest of your group will. However, your main rucksack will be transported in the JLGB van, and you will be able to collect it and use it at the campsite.

For the expedition itself, any essential items such as food, water and waterproofs will be packed into a smaller, more manageable bag for you to carry.

Please make sure that any medical requirements or adjustments are discussed with the JLGB DofE team before your expedition so that we can make the appropriate arrangements.
