Frequently Asked Question

All participants must be adequately trained before undertaking their DofE expedition. The training and practice requirements differ depending on the Award level:

• Bronze: Participants must complete the required training, including a practical training day before their qualifying expedition.
• Silver: Participants must complete the required training and a compulsory practice expedition of at least 2 days and 2 nights.
• Gold: Participants must complete the required training and a compulsory practice expedition of at least 2 days and 2 nights.

This is in line with DofE guidelines, which requires participants to be adequately trained to safely undertake a remotely supervised expedition in the environment in which they will be operating.

The practice expedition is an important part of your preparation, giving you the opportunity to put your training into practice and make sure you are ready for your qualifying expedition.
