Frequently Asked Question

Unfortunately, DofE rules mean that a family member cannot act as your assessor or sign off a section to confirm your participation or completion.

Your assessor should be an independent adult with relevant qualifications, experience or knowledge in the activity you are completing.

For example:

• A music teacher could assess your Skills section if you are learning an instrument.
• A sports coach could assess your Physical section if you are taking part in their sport.
• A supervisor or leader who has seen you take part in your activity could assess your Volunteering section.
